ESB and Nut Brown – new taps in the city

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Fans of the ESB can find it on tap at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Spencer Street in Melbourne’s Central Beer District.

And our limited release Nut Brown Ale is now on tap at the Cherry Tree Hotel in the Cremorne neighborhood of Richmond.  Get it while the gettin’s good!

New Holgate Taps!

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Lovers of our hand-pumped ESB will soon be able to enjoy the real ale experience at the Radio Springs Hotel in Lyonville.  Featuring fine food made with local produce, local wines and – now – local beer, the folks at the Radio Springs have been too busy to update their website, but you will find the address there!

And in Castlemaine you will be able to enjoy BOTH our Pilsner and Mt Macedon on tap at the Railway Hotel.  The pilsner has displaced a lager from a certain mega-brewery that will remain unnamed… score one for the little guys!

Further east you will soon find the Mt Macedon on tap in the Dandenong Mountains, courtesy of Kelly’s On The Hill.

Where to find the Nut Brown Ale

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

New devotees to the sweet nutty are signing up daily!  Our medium bodied brown ale is brewed with roasted macadamia nuts and hopped with a cleansing dose of Cascades.  At 5.2% ABV it remains an easy drinking ale – the perfect drop for a cool autumn day!

We underestimated the power of the Nut Brown after our first two batches and have quickly sold out of kegs.  Another batch is in the works and we should be rolling out the barrels for our draft devotees in time for our birthday party at Mrs. Parma’s on 21 June.  Stay tuned…

We do have a fair swag of bottles on hand, though!  As of press time you should be able to grab a stubbie of our 10th Anniversary Nut Brown Ale at the following premium venues:

- Cloudwine Cellars, South Melbourne and Camberwell

- Mrs. Parma’s, Melbourne CBD

- Cookie, Melbourne CBD

- Purvis Cellars, Surrey Hills

- Terminus Hotel, Clifton Hill

Royston’s ESB beer engine soon to be back online

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Paul and Ian were at the Royston yesterday to take a closer look at the beer engine.  Unfortunately the hand-pumped ESB has been off line for a while due to a bad seal in the pump cylinder.  We’ve ordered some parts from the UK and will be installing a stand in beer engine in the meantime.

Long story short – hand-pumped ESB should be available at the Royston again from Tuesday evening!

Holgate öl-nu tillgänglig i Sverige

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

For those of you not tuning in from Stockholm, that says “Holgate beer – now available in Sweden”

We’ve shipped off a pallet of Hopinator, Temptress,  Mt Macedon Ale, Double Trouble, and ESB to Anders Bergstrom at World Beer Trading.  It should be rounding the Cape about now…

So grab a Holgate next time you’re in the land of the midnight sun!  Skål!

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

I have it on good advice that the Temptress we sent up to seduce Sydneysiders at The Local Taphouse in Darlinghurst has been tapped.  Get it while it lasts!

New Stockists!

Friday, January 16th, 2009

We’ve added a few new converts to the Real Beer Revolution:

Oscar’s Ale House, 7 Bayview Rd, Belgrave:  Just up the road from the Puffing Billy, Oscar’s should be a priority destination for any beer lovers in the eastern suburbs (and anyone passing through!).  A long-time home brewer, Brad has created a great line up of imported and Australian beers – including our ESB.

- Grumpy’s Green, 125 Smith Street, Fitzroy:  The team at Grumpy’s Green includes experienced hands from St Kilda’s Local Taphouse and they’ve brought the same passion for real beer to this new establishment on Smith Street.  Head there for a great selection of Victorian beers, including our Pilsner on tap, Hopinator, Temptress, and Mt Macedon Pale Ale in bottles.

- Barranow’s Lounge, 348 Burwood Road, Hawthorn:  The linked Age review says it better than we could.  Head to this luxurious retreat for a bottle of our Mt Macedon Ale or Pilsner

- Seddon Wine Store, 101 Victoria Street, Seddon:  Jeremy is building a great repertoir of beers to complement an astounding wine selection.  Pick up a six-pack of our Pilsner or Mt Macedon Ale at Ian’s new local bottle-o.

- Melbourne Aquarium, City:  Drink like a fish?  Melbourne Aquarium bought us out of our supply of Big Reg!  Fortunately we’ve bottled more since then.

- Olinda Cellars, Dandenong Tourist Rd, Olinda:  This well-stocked bottle shop amidst the mountain ash forest carries our Christmas Ale… for a limited time!

- Young & Jackson, City:  And of course, we’re very happy to be on tap at the legendary Y&J’s.  Get our Pilsner on tap any time, or grab a Temptress on tap during the month of February, while Holgate is the featured craft brewer.
